Royal Enfield is one of the most prestigious names in the two-wheeler industry. The company is prepared to extend its presence in the global market with its new portfolio of 750cc. It intends to stabilize its position in the larger bike space while pushing for a higher export volume.
In December 2024, exports were at its best as far as Royal Enfield was concerned despite the challenge being faced by it in the domestic market. There was some fantastic YoY growth figures and were mainly on the back of huge popularity that was seen on 350cc models, which comprised the likes of Classic 350, Bullet 350, and Himalayan 450, amongst others.
Establishing Dominance in the Indian Market
Royal Enfield has made its mark in India, particularly with its 350cc, 450cc, and 650cc motorcycle range. These motorcycles can now be simply described as that which defines this brand, increasing the brand more in the current Indian motorcycle industry.
Models ranging from the classic 350 through the Bullet 350 to even the Himalayan 450 all made a space that is enormous and cemented the position as the sixth-selling two-wheeler manufacturer brand not only inside but also exports markets up till November 2024.
The company has successfully maintained a competitive edge by offering products that appeal to a wide range of motorcycle enthusiasts. From urban commuters to adventure seekers, Royal Enfield’s diverse lineup has met the needs of many riders. The brand’s emphasis on both aesthetics and performance has made its bikes a top choice for many in India and abroad.
Royal Enfield Sales in December 2024
Although December 2024 was relatively tame for Royal Enfield in the domestic market, especially in month on month analyses, there has been no let-up in the bigger scheme of things. It is common in the motorcycle industry in the tail end of the calendar year where customers tend to delay purchases or just not make as many purchases.
Royal Enfield total units sold in December 2024 stood at 79,466 units. This is an enormous YoY growth that represents the interest of buying Royal Enfield motorcycles in the typically slow month of December.
The largest strength of the company lies in its 350cc portfolio, which remains the bedrock of its sales strategy. In December 2024, the 350cc motorcycles, including popular models like the Classic 350 and Bullet 350, accounted for a dominant 87.43% of Royal Enfield’s total sales, with 69,476 units sold.
This represents a slight increase from the previous month, when 350cc bikes made up 86.63% of total sales. In comparison to the same month in 2023, when 55,401 units were sold, this signifies a 25.41% YoY growth, with 14,075 additional units sold in December 2024.
However, when compared to November 2024, the 350cc segment experienced a modest 2.50% MoM decline, losing 1,785 units in volume. This decline was typical of the end-of-year market slowdown. On the other hand, motorcycles exceeding 350cc in engine capacity—such as the 411cc, 450cc, and 650cc models—represented a smaller share of total sales, contributing to 12.57% of the total. While this category also saw a 25% YoY growth, the MoM decline was more pronounced, with a 9.15% drop in sales, losing 1,006 units compared to November 2024.

Domestic vs. Export Performance
The home market is where Royal Enfield makes most of its sales. In December 2024, the domestic market accounted for 85.43 percent of all sales, with 67,891 units sold. All segments of the domestic market witnessed 18.5% year-on-year growth, which constituted an addition of 10,588 units from December 2023. Domestic sales did experience a MoM dip of 6.02 percent, which is what usually happens at the close of the year.
While on exports, this performance showed excellence both on the YoY as well as on MoM bases. Export for the Royal Enfield motorcycles showed 89.88% YoY growth by shipping out 5,479 additional units when compared with December 2023. It reported an MoM growth of 15.51%, that was to be with the increase in shipping units 1,554 when compared to November 2024. These were indications that show international markets had seen rising interests toward Royal Enfield bikes particularly countries whose interests had picked for the premium segment bikes.
Total sales were 79,466 units during December 2024. Compared to the previous year, Royal Enfield recorded a substantial YoY growth of 25.37 percent over 63,387 units sold in December 2023. Although it declined by 3.39% MoM compared to November 2024, such strong YoY performance reconfirms that success is continuous not only in domestic markets but also in export markets.

Conclusion
Led by strategic focus of increasing its portfolios and strengthening capabilities for exports, Royal Enfield continues to expand both in home markets and also overseas. Here is something crucial for the organization – though it would be building primarily around the core 350 cc portfolio, its sales, which are likely to dominate most the sales of bigger motorcycles such as Himalayan or any new 750cc products launched would also popularize the brand. Export performance by the company has really been strong.
The performance for December 2024 further reinforces the notion that the company is gaining prominence in the international market. Strong growth in sales coupled with ever-growing international market would take Royal Enfield to a new height within the next couple of years.
